Once in a
very long while, you find a vocalist with a completely unique style.
Janita has that very rare gift, combined with a powerful and appealing
singing voice, strong writing talent and an unprocessed natural beauty
and sensuality.
Often compared to Sade, Seal, Bebel Gilberto, India Arie and Jill Scott,
Janita has attracted amazing reviews, and her first Lightyear single,
her beautiful rendition of Depeche Mode’s hit Enjoy The Silence,
is already getting heavy airplay on the R&R Smooth Jazz panel, picking
up 13 stations in the first three weeks, which is extremely unusual
for a vocalist. Live, she mesmerizes, and tour dates are being planned
now, expecting to hit most major markets by the end of 2006.
Janita began her career at the early age of 13. Before turning 17, Janita
became a celebrity in her home country of Finland with multiple hits,
two Finnish Grammy Awards, numerous magazine covers, and a national
tour. Janita has gone on to develop a unique sound that combines the
elements of the big city and her own past in Finland.
Seasons of Life includes 11 organic soul-inspired tracks, and features
a 16-piece string orchestra from the New York Philharmonic. Working
with many of New York’s top musicians from the recordings and
performances of Indie Arie, Maxwell, Steely Dan, Angie Stone, D’Angelo,
Meshell Ndegeocello, Dianne Reeves and many others, Janita put together
a stellar cast to create an album that critics have called “gorgeous”
and “superb.”
